“Superb job on our 1987 Mercedes 560SL. Extensive fuel work but worth it; the car drives better than I can remember!”

“Garrett and company have worked on our two German made cars for over 20 years. Recently I asks them to replace the auxiliary battery in my Volvo. They did replace the battery but could not get it to recalibrate. They only charged me for the battery and no labor. I told them that they had some time involved in putting the battery in and I owed something for labor. They wouldn't take any. I have only had great experiences with Dan's, Garrett and Keith in my 20 years of having them service my cars. They are fair, prompt and the quality of service is exceptional. This is evident by taking on a car not of German design trying to help a client and it costing them time and money. I will always contact them first for service on any car I own.”

“These gentlemen have done a TON of work on my 2013 Audi and I couldn't be happier with the end result. I had a knocking/rattling sound coming from the front end. These types of issues are so hard to diagnose but Dan, Garrett, Keith and Phil were relentless in making it right. In one case, the brand new parts they installed were defective from the factory. They didn't blink an eye to put in all new parts without charging me a dime. When the work was over, my car had transformed from sounding like a rattling deathtrap to being completely silent and smooth. This team genuinely cares about getting your car in top condition.”

They picked me up from across town and came and got me when my car was ready. Also this is a local and family own/run business and they did not nickel and dime.”

“For your foreign car they are the ones to go to. Hands down they can fix and do anything to your foreign car. And side note they work on my Dodge Cummings as well. So don't be fool by thinking they only do Europeans if it's broken they can fix it. One of the most honorable shops I have ever been to. They will treat you and do you write and guarantee their work no hassle. And if you're really nice he might tell you about a couple good fishing spots in Elephant Butte :-)”

“Called around noon and expressed that I just purchased an S5 and the door actuator was out and I had to get back to California. They Stated they could get the part and I could make an appointment on Friday (called on Wednesday), but since the part was in their warehouse and available the same day I could leave the car with them and see what they could do to get it done sooner. About three hours after I dropped the car off they had completed the work and the price was just as they quoted. When they stated that they “could possibly” do the work When they were in between cars I was uncertain but they actually did. Amazing! We are always skeptical on finding new businesses especially when it comes to our cars but this team just won mine. Great job Dans Automotive, keep up the good work. Service A+. Work A+.”

“2006 Sprinter 2500 started losing power; this would happen when the engine was hot or on a hot day. It would stop accelerating around 40 or other times around 60. No more RPMs, no passing gear, nothing. It would stay at that speed for a bit and then slowly slow down. If I would stop the van and restart then it would go away for a while. Sometime minutes, sometimes hours. Garrett found a firmware update that did not mention any of the system related to this except a small phrase that looked suspicious in the details. He loaded it and BAM, the problem went away. Nice!

We bring all our cars to Dan's: Sprinter, 560SEL and Toyota. Been very pleased. Years of service.”

“I've been using Dan's for over 20 years because they are honest, fair, great at what they do, fast and reasonably priced. Mostly though, its because they are honest. A few times other shops have said my car needed x, y and z and Dan's has said “actually, it only needs y” and been right.”

“I'm from out of state. I bought a 35 year old Benz in Abq and had a friend drop it off at Dan's. They checked it over and mad necessary repairs. They were very easy to work with even from far away, communicative and very accommodating despite the unusual situation. When I finally got to Abq, I picked up the car and drove it 2,500 miles without a hitch. Will definitely get my old Benz cared for at Dan's next time I'm in town.”

“These guys are awesome. I drove here from florida and my Mercedes developed a problem that would keep me from driving anywhere, much less back home. They could have taken advantage of that, but didn't. They were thorough and honest (I can verify they were honest...I knew this problem would eventually happen and which codes were showing up, but I didn't tell them that ahead of time). They got the parts they needed to solve the problem, but when they realized the first part they installed solved the problem, they stopped installing parts. They even went so far as to order an extra part to keep on hand in case another related error code popped up while I was still in Albuquerque so they'd be ready to help me get home on time.

I would've paid a lot more money than I did because I had to get back, being stuck 1,500 miles from home. He knew that, but the price was very reasonable: in fact, much less than quotes I received for the same work in Florida.

“They have worked on my two mercedes (SL and E) and two BMWs (X5 diesel and gas) and they are far more competant than the dealers, as well as cheaper and friendly. They fixed an EGR problem on the X5 that puzzled dealers in two states. The car was a lemon purchase buyback from the CA dealer because they could not fix the problem. Dan's son fixed it. Would not take my german cars anywhere else.”

“Driving from Ontario Canada to San Diego, CA with my daughter when our 1989 VW Westfalia lost her clutch...I should have made a left @ Albuquerque! In a panic my daughter googled VW specialist and Dan's number popped up! She spoke with Garrett, told him the situation and the situation. He said he would call us back if he could source the part. He did. We still had hours to drive that day, so we asked if he could give us priority in the queue. He did. “I've taken my BMW to the dealer and gotten the run around and the hard sell. Not at Dan's! These guys are honest and they know their stuff! They were able to quickly and accurately diagnose the problem on my 325Ci and fix it. In the process, they found that I had a water pump on the verge of failure and saved me a headache later. They will recommend preventative maintenance, but will not try to sell you something you don't need. After they fixed my car, they even showed me the parts they'd replaced and demonstrated what was wrong with them. Dan's Automotive is where I'll take my BMW from now on.”

Not wanting to risk being stranded during a long leg of driving in the desert, I looked up reputable mechanics in the area and found Dan's.

Garrett, Dan's son and one of the head technicians, picked up the phone. After hearing my story, he made some time the next morning to meet.

After looking at the codes, Garrett saw the the engine was 'running lean' and ran a smoke test. He cleaned the tubes and replaced the crank shaft valve. They also replaced my air intake sensor which was reading the volumes incorrectly.

From there, my car ran well and never shut off for the next 19 hours of driving. This relieved our stress along the road trip.

Beyond fixing the problem which was complicated, they get 5-stars because of the level of customer care, knowledge of the problem, and attention to detail. Garrett did a thorough computer diagnostic of the car and walked me through what the readings meant and provided me options. They were honest and didn't scare or tell me I HAD to do anything. I've worked with some amazing and also not-so-great mechanics from LA to Houston, and I could tell that Dan's is a top-notch place with authentic folks who know what they're doing.

The owner, Dan, even gave me a free ride back to the hotel and recommended I check our Sandia peak while waiting. It was a good day in Albuquerque.

And as follow-up, Garrett gave me his card and offered to transfer knowledge to my next mechanic once I made it to Portland for some other issues that weren't as pressing. I def appreciate this since I am a customer just driving through.

“If you are looking for an honest no nonsense auto repair shop for your German vehicle then look no further. Dan's is a family operated repair shop that specializes in Mercedes, BMW, Audi, and Porsche, but can service and repair any car. I have been taking my 2005 BMW 645ci to Dan's for repair over the last 3 years and I have always been treated wonderfully. Don't get burned by the stealership like I did. Dan's team will quickly identify the root of your cars problem and fix it in a timely manner. If you need a ride to work or home, they will take you and pick you up when repairs are complete.”

Later my camshaft seized, and Audi wanted a lot to fix it. I told them that there was a lawsuit against them about a defect with my car losing oil. Still fighting Audi, I decided to take it to Dan's, they fixed my car and found the source of my oil issue, an oil pressure sensor that was leaking only while driving. Thanks Dan.”

“Don't worry about taking your car to these guys! You will get the best price and they do a fantastic job. I have a 2010 BMW and hit some debris in the road which dislodged my oil pump and blowing the engine. Towed it to the BMW dealer which was $26,000 for a new engine or $8,000 for a used engine with 116K miles on it! No way to either of those options. I took it to Dan's and they found an engine with 33K miles on it and replaced it for $6,400. When the engine blew it knocked out the O2 sensors in the exhaust which caused the check engine light to come on. They let me get the sensors online, which was much cheaper than the dealer and they installed them for free. I was also getting an error on the halo lights as well so they replaced them too. I am so happy with the job they did and the car is running better than before. I am so happy to find a good mechanic in town that beats everyone's price and does an amazing job. They do everything from oil changes to engine replacement which was needed in my case.”

“My BMW started missing. This usually means start peeling off thousand dollar bills.

I decided to try Dan's mainly for closeness. They got me right in, gave me a ride home, called with a fairly low estimate in a few hours, and called back a few hours later saying that it was done for what they'd quoted. I picked it up in the morning, and it ran like new.

I believe that the place I took it to before would have charged twice as much and tried to sell more work and taken a week.

I will go back here the next time I need work because they treated me right. They've been around for about 30 years and have kept the biz in the family, father to son.

I like the feeling of not being gouged.

“Dan's is a family owned business that specializes in German automobiles. They work on Mercedes, BMW, Audi, and Porsche, but can service and repair any car out there. These guys are no-nonsense, and honest mechanics that will not try to sell you parts and work you do not need. They have been servicing quality autos for over twenty years and they are very professional. I needed a ride to work in the morning and the owner's son was quick to get me there. Apparently, they realize that I have a job to do as well. They looked my car over thoroughly and made sure it was ready for the long trip to Austin. I had taken my Beemer into another place a few months ago and they wanted me to replace the oil and transmission pans costing about $1500.00! When I asked Dan's about this they told me that I could do that if I wanted, but instead they haver other options that were less expensive but would do the job just as well. They would rather be straight with me than win a sale. They were done with everything within a couple of hours and called me to say they could pick me up anytime. 15 minutes later I was back in my car. They reminded me that I would probably need my brakes done in the next 5,000 miles and that I should let them know when I was ready so they could have the parts ready when I wanted them done. These guys were really great, a real breath of fresh air and not snooty like the dealership can be. I highly recommend them to anyone with a German auto, or anything for that matter!”

“I took my 2007 VW Touareg V10 TDI to Dan's because the engine unexpectedly lost power. The drive train is complicated, over-engineered, and incredibly difficult to service. It turned out that both turbos needed to be replaced, which required dropping the engine. Dan's Automotive did a great job. They were very responsive, honest, friendly, and quick. They didn't charge me anything for the initial diagnostic and literally saved me thousands compared to the repair quote I got from the local dealership.
